Is it available?
Pfizer's hospital product page listed the 30 mL plastic Fliptop vial as Available on 5 Nov 2026 (Pfizer Hospital US product page). The FDA drug shortages list showed sterile water products in shortage. We did not find bacteriostatic water named on the part of the list we read.
Other licensed makers
A DailyMed search showed one other original labeler, Fujian Genohope Biotech, with a 30 mL vial (bacteriostatic water label (Fujian Genohope Biotech) on DailyMed). Several distributors relabel the Hospira 30 mL vial. We did not find a licensed 10 mL bacteriostatic water vial on DailyMed.
How research-supply bac water differs
Research suppliers sell bac water for laboratory use, often in 10 mL vials. It is not the Hospira product. PSPeptides, for example, sells 10 mL vials with 0.9% benzyl alcohol and publishes an ILS Laboratories lot report. Compare sizes on the sizes page.
The 28-day question
We did not find a 28-day discard period on the Hospira label. The figure comes from CDC guidance for multi-use vials, which says vials should be "dated and discarded within 28 days unless the manufacturer states another date." More on our storage page.
